Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut Mako Swim Club announces college-bound students.

The Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut Mako Swim Club is proud to announce their 2014 graduating seniors, many of whom have been with the program for as many as 10 years.

Over the years, the Mako Swim Club has been able to offer them the benefit of being part of a competitive team while learning to set goals, manage their time efficiently, build friendships and reach national levels in swimming.

“We are very excited for all of our graduating seniors,” Senior Aquatic Director and Head Coach of the Mako Swim Club Jason Paige said. “They have shown the tenacity necessary to compete in the pool over the years and we know that will carry over well into the next phase of their lives.”

The following Mako Swim Club seniors will be headed off this fall going on to study at various universities:

Austin Adamcheck, Babson College
Rares Barbu, University of Connecticut
Tucker Bjornson, US NAVY
Anna Brown, Sacred Heart University
Devon D’Agosta, Nova Southeastern
Stephanie Ferrarie, Harvard University
Richard Huffman, Bucknell University
Adam Hufziger, Loyola University
Robert Linden, Harvey Mudd
Nick Miller, Connecticut College
Samantha Palicz, Kenyon College
Samantha Russo, LIM College
Courtney Regan, Seton Hall University

Adamcheck, Brown, D’Agosta, Linden, Miller, Palicz and Regan will go on to compete for their respective universities in swimming at either Division I or Division III conferences.

“The commitment that is required to be a part of the Mako Swim Club throughout the high school years is highly respected on college applications; swimming also increases opportunities for academic and athletic scholarships” Coach Paige said.

“The Mako Swim Club helped me prepare for my college experience in so many ways,” graduating senior Courtney Regan said. “Swimming helped me structure my days so I was better organized for school. I also made so many great friends, who I will miss so much.”

As the Makos bid farewell to the graduating seniors, they look forward to building their future team. The short course season begins in early September for all ages.
