BROOKFIELD, CT — A Brookfield man was arrested after a multi-agency police pursuit that began in New York and ended near the Connecticut state line, authorities said.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said Nathan Pineda, 31, was taken into custody on Interstate 84 eastbound on Sept. 24 after fleeing from New York State Police, striking two patrol vehicles, and refusing to stop. His vehicle was disabled before he was arrested without further incident.

Danbury police had issued a “be on the lookout” notice for Pineda earlier that evening. He is accused of setting fire to his mother’s vehicle and assaulting his girlfriend with a knife in Connecticut. Deputies said the weapon and an open alcohol container were recovered from his car.
