Brookfield’s New Food Emporium Remains On Track For Fall Opening On Federal Road

BROOKFIELD, CT — The new Food Emporium at 731 Federal Road is on track to open in about two months, according to Brookfield Economic Development Specialist Greg Dembowski.

Dembowski toured the store this week with the grocer's managing partner Mike Hansen, who said crews are working to complete the installation of walk-in coolers and refrigerated deli and produce shelves. HVAC and electrical contractors, along with Key Food employees, were on site preparing the space for its debut.

The Brookfield store’s official opening date has not been set. Town officials said it will be announced on the Brookfield Economic and Community Development Facebook page a few weeks before the launch, along with hiring details and the store’s new website. The town is expected to host the grand opening.

The Food Emporium brand is owned by Key Food Stores Co-Op, Inc., a cooperative of independently owned supermarkets founded in Brooklyn, NY, in 1937. Headquartered in Matawan, N.J., the cooperative operates more than 450 stores in six states under multiple banners, including Key Food Marketplace, Food Dynasty, Urban Market and SuperFresh.
