Brookfield Teen, Police Stage Fake Arrest for Promposal: WATCH

"He will put me under arrest unless you say yes! Prom?"

BROOKFIELD, CT — Prom season is here, and that means teens are crafting clever ways to ask that special someone to accompany them for an unforgettable evening. With the special night drawing near, a Brookfield High School student set his sights on an epic 'promposal' and decided to call the police. Yes, you read that correctly, the police.

Matthew Bento asked the Brookfield Police Department to help him ask his girlfriend to prom, and a friend caught the entire exchange on video. Bento and police colluded to stage a fake "arrest" in order to draw the girlfriend to the police cruiser.

When Officer Brian Flanagan approached the car and asked for Bento's information, he refused to provide it and was placed into handcuffs.

"Did he really just arrest him?" she appears to say in the video.

After putting Bento into the police cruiser, Flanagan returned to Bento's car to inform his girlfriend that he had been detained and to ask her to talk to him and calm him down. When she approached the cruiser, Bento emerged with a large sign.
