Closure Pinpointed For Brookfield Location In Fading Pharmacy Chain

Specific closing ranges have been announced for four Connecticut locations in a once-mighty pharmacy chain.

BROOKFIELD, CT — Closing dates for four more Rite Aid stores in Connecticut — including Brookfield — have been pinpointed.

The specific closures were confirmed in court documents that were made public this week and by staffers answering phone calls to the respective stores.

All prescriptions are being transferred to the "closest" CVS pharmacies, staffers across the state have said.

The company listed liabilities in the range of $1 billion to $10 billion in a Chapter 11 petition filed in New Jersey bankruptcy court.

The previous restructuring by Rite Aid reduced the pharmacy chain's debt but still left it on shaky financial footing.

Rite-Aid operated about 2,000 pharmacies as recently as 2023.
