The informal community Summer Sing will take place August 29 in Brookfield.

Connecticut Choral Society Announces an Open “Summer Sing” and Auditions for Prospective Members
The Connecticut Choral Society (CCS) is launching its 2016-2017 season with an informal community Summer Sing of Carl Orff’s masterpiece Carmina Burana on Monday, August 29th, 7:30 pm, at Valley Presbyterian Church (21 West Whisconier Road, Brookfield), followed by a reception with light refreshments. Cost is $10 for singers (includes use of the music) and is free for non-singers.

Carmina Burana will be conducted by CCS Artistic and Music Director Eric Dale Knapp. He will also give a preview CCS’s 2016-2017 season.

The Summer Sing is open both to singers (high school and older), and to non-singing music-lovers who would like to listen as audience members. This is an opportunity to learn the background of Orff’s capstone piece, to sing the choral sections, and to experience the rehearsal techniques of a high-caliber choral ensemble. Current CCS singers are looking forward to “tuning up their voices” at the Summer Sing and to meeting prospective new members.

An appointment to audition for the Choral Society can be arranged before the Summer Sing or in September. Singers are needed for all voice parts, particularly tenors and basses.
