BROOKFIELD, CT — Fire crews responded to a report of a structure fire on Obtuse Road South on Saturday night, finding significant smoke inside the home but ultimately containing the fire to a small area of flooring.

Emergency services from the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company were dispatched at 8:54 p.m., and the first arriving unit called for additional resources after confirming a working fire. Mutual aid was requested from Bethel, Stony Hill, Hawleyville and Bridgewater fire departments.

Investigators later determined the fire had not extended beyond the affected flooring area, according to a statement from BVFC. No injuries were reported, and no residents were displaced.

The Brookfield Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause. All units were cleared from the scene by 9:59 p.m.
