BROOKFIELD, CT — Munchin Hedgehog, an ice cream shop founded by teen entrepreneur Maxim Kapytka, will celebrate its one-year anniversary on Sunday, July 13, with an all-day community event and a 4 p.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony at its 616 Federal Road location.

Customers who mention the anniversary at the counter will receive a free scoop of ice cream with any order and can enter raffles for gift cards, merchandise, and other prizes. The celebration will showcase the shop’s signature offerings, which include more than 40 traditional hard ice cream flavors, rolled ice cream, sherbets, vegan and no-sugar-added options, Italian ices, milkshakes, and an extensive international candy selection.

Munchin Hedgehog was launched in 2024 by then 14-year-old Kapytka and his sister Kseniya, with support from their family and the Brookfield community. The business began as a summer idea and quickly evolved into a full-scale venture when a former Dairy Queen location became available. With guidance from local officials and help from SCORE mentors, the siblings transformed the space into a vibrant dessert destination.
