New Financial Director for Brookfield Public Schools Named

Brookfield, CT — For the fifth time since 2014, Brookfield has hired a new Financial Director for the Brookfield Public Schools, according to The News Times.

Ken Post, a Bethel resident, was recently named the new Director of Business and Operations for the Brookfield School District after Al Cameron's retirement after just one year in Brookfield, the paper reports.

Cameron replaced Gregg Miller, who replaced Ed Arum who was appointed as the interim-director after Art Colley resigned, according to the report.

Post previously worked as Finance Director for the Wilton public schools for the past 14 years where he earned a $150,161 yearly salary, according to the Wilton Bulletin.

Colley and his assistant Elizabeth Kerekes were arrested and charged with stealing thousands of dollars from the school district. Colley has pleaded not guilty to the charges and Kerekes is seeking special probation.

Patch reported last September that Kerekes was one of two former Brookfield Public Schools employees to be arrested in for allegedly using school funds for personal use. Her boss, former finance director Art Colley, 57, was charged with second-degree larceny and third-degree forgery.

An audit revealed nearly $124,000 in questionable spending by Colley and Kerekes. The forensic audit analyzed more than 600 transactions involving Colley , Kerekes and other present and former school employees.
