State Grant Means More No-Interest Loans Available for Brookfield
Brookfield received a second grant to bolster the zero-interest home repair loan program begun last year.

Brookfield has been awarded an additional $400,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for town-wide housing rehabilitation to add to the $300,000 awarded last year to begin the program. The town is now seeking interested parties to participate in the program.
The purpose of this grant is to provide funds for low- and moderate-income homeowners to make needed repairs to their homes. To be eligible, single homeowners must have an annual income that does not exceed $47,250 for a one-person household or up to $67,450 for a four-person household.
The additional $400,000 in funding should cover approximately 12 rehabilitation projects.
The funding is paid out as loans at 0 percent interest, which are paid down by the homeowner or before the property changes title. The grant allows the town to establish a revolving fund.
Eligible activities include replacing failed furnaces, roofs, windows, doors and septic system repairs. These funds can provide for ADA modifications to homes as well, such as entrance ramps and bathroom modifications.
“I’m pleased this federal funding will help eliminate building code deficiencies and improve day-to-day life for families in need,” Rep. David Scribner (R-107) said. “These repairs are essential to ensuring our neighbors are residing in safe, healthy conditions and come at no cost to the Town of Brookfield.”
Persons interested in applying for a loan through the program or who want additional information should contact Lisa Low Associates, 203-888-5624. Or, visit the town’s website for further information.
