'Tough Decision:' Beloved Brookfield Business Shutters After A Decade

BROOKFIELD, CT — Brookfield Deli and Catering has announced it is closing up shop.
The fresh food mainstay in the plaza at 782 Federal Road said goodbye on social media over the weekend.
"After 10 wonderful years, we've made the tough decision to close our doors," the owners posted on Facebook Saturday. "Between the struggles of the economy and the difficulty of finding and keeping employees, it's become too hard to continue."

The business thanked its patrons for all their "love, loyalty, and support through the years, and encouraged them to patronize the business at its Newtown and Naugatuck stores.
The deli, which closed formally on Sunday, advised local residents to contact its Newtown store at 203-364-1218 for any Brookfield catering orders.

"This isn't just a store to us -- it's been family, friendship, and community," the owners said.
