BROOKFIELD, CT — Now, your favorite BBQ may offer brisket, pulled pork, ribs and maybe even a fine, tangy Alabama white sauce, but does it have a corn maze?

Yeah, we didn't think so

At the Twins BBQ Maze at 401 Federal Road in Brookfield, getting lost is half the fun — and the smell of smoked brisket drifting across the fields makes it easy to forget you’re in the middle of a six-acre corn labyrinth.

Co-owner Danielle Gallop and her husband, Mike Gallop, have turned the seasonal maze and their nearby food-and-drink ventures into one of western Connecticut’s quirkiest fall attractions. What began as a small family project has grown into a lively combination of agriculture, hospitality, and good old-fashioned community spirit.

A “Bee Kind” Maze With a Message

This year’s corn maze theme — “Bee Kind” — celebrates pollinators and positivity. Visitors can wander through paths shaped like honeycombs, bees, and wings, spread over two distinct mazes that together cover roughly six acres.

“One maze is shorter and a little easier, great for families with kids,”Danielle told Patch. “The larger one has ten bee-related trivia stations. Each clue gives you a right-or-left answer to help you find your way.”

Most guests spend about an hour and a half exploring both mazes, depending on their navigation skills. The experience is designed to be as educational as it is entertaining, and this year’s layout — designed in partnership with a national agro-tourism maze company — reinforces the Gallops’ commitment to family-friendly fun and local farming.

The maze, located on property owned by the Steiner family, runs through the weekend after Thanksgiving. What started three years ago as a revival of a long-dormant corn maze once operated by the old Larson Farm has blossomed into a full-scale seasonal destination.

“We even go to corn-maze conferences now,” Gallop said with a laugh. “You’d be amazed how many of us there are across the country, swapping ideas on how to make it more fun each year.”

Upcoming Events: Spooks, Dogs … and Lots and Lots of Goats

The fun doesn’t stop at sunset. On Friday, Oct. 24, the maze hosts its first-ever night maze, a “Trunk-or-Treat” fundraiser with the Brookfield High School Leo Club, whose student volunteers will transform the maze into a family-friendly spook walk.

The next day, visitors can meet a herd of friendly goats who spend Saturdays at the maze. On Saturday, Nov. 1, those goats will return for “Dump the Pump,” when families are invited to donate their used pumpkins for the goats to enjoy — and to watch them bound through the maze off-leash.

Then, on Sunday, Nov. 2, the season wraps up with “Dogs in the Maze,” when four-legged friends get their own turn to explore the winding paths.

Twins BBQ Co. is also planning a Jeep Meet fundraiser in November to support a staff member whose family recently suffered a loss.

Where Barbecue Meets Agro-tainment

The corn maze is just one side of the Gallops’ growing enterprise. Mike Gallop launched Twins BBQ Co. in 2015, starting with a single food truck serving ribs, pulled pork, and other Southern-style specialties at local events. By 2020, he left his full-time job to focus on the business, adding a stationary BBQ truck, a taproom serving Connecticut-made beer, wine, and cider, and even a mobile “Tapville” bar trailer for weddings and festivals.

“Twins BBQ is basically everywhere,” Danielle Gallop said. “We have a full outdoor bar and live music on weekends, plus a mobile kitchen and taproom that travel to events across the region.”

The Twins BBQ menu and event calendar — from holiday catering and Thanksgiving feasts to live music weekends — are posted online here. Maze hours, ticket information, and the latest event updates can be found here.

A Family Business Rooted in Community

For Danielle and Mike Gallop, both Westchester County natives who now call Brookfield home, the goal is simple: create spaces where people can gather, eat well, and make memories.

“We just love watching families spend the day — the kids running through the maze, the parents relaxing with barbecue and a drink,” Danielle said. “It’s everything we hoped this place would be.”
