William 'Bill' Francis Taylor, 61, of Brookfield, Passed Away

'Coach Bill' was a volunteer golf coach at The First Tee of Connecticut, a youth development program.

BROOKFIELD, CT — William (Bill) Francis Taylor, 61, of Brookfield, CT passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, CT. Bill lived in Brookfield, CT for the last 25 years. Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Bill attended Nazareth High School and Brooklyn College where he earned a Computer Science Degree. Upon graduation, Bill joined IBM sales and worked at IBM for 30 years before retiring.

Bill loved sports, especially the NY Giants and Mets and he was quite the sports trivia maven. One would be hard pressed to stump Bill on any sports question! An avid golfer, Bill enjoyed sharing his love of golf with his friends and especially his niece Alli. "Coach Bill" was also a volunteer golf coach at The First Tee of Connecticut, a youth development program.

A passionate skier, Bill was finally able to live his dream of spending winters in Colorado with his wife Peg for the past 8 ski seasons and he rarely missed a day on the slopes. When not skiing or golfing, Bill enjoyed kayaking, hiking, and biking. Bill was predeceased by his mother Florence (Remsbecker) Taylor, and father William Taylor. Besides his wife Peg, Bill is survived by his sisters, Joan Waldron (Tom) and Barbara Taylor, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews who will miss him more than words can say.

The family will receive friends at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St., Newtown, CT on Thurs. Sept. 22 from 5 to 8 P.M. A funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph's Church in Brookfield, CT on Fri. Sept. 23 at 11 A.M. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's name can be given to the American Cancer Society or First Tee of CT.
