Anti-Trump Rally Planned In Canton On Saturday, What You Need To Know
The 'No Kings' protest at the Canton Town Green is part of a national protest planned on Saturday, June 14, against Trump's policies.
CANTON, CT — The town's quaint green on Saturday morning will become part of a much larger effort nationally to protest the policies of Republican President Donald Trump.
A "No Kings" rally will take place from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, at the Canton Town Green, which is located at Dowd Avenue and Albany Turnpike (Route 44).
The site is the scene of regular weekly Saturday demonstrations hosted by members of Indivisible Farmington Valley and the Canton Democratic Town Committee.

Saturday's demonstration, dubbed the "Canton Courage Rally," however, could be larger as it is part of the nationwide "No Kings" rally set to happen all over the U.S. on Saturday, June 14. In Connecticut, 30 such protests are planned.
That day happens to be Trump's birthday, and he's planning a massive military parade to celebrate that, as well as the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army.

While Trump claims the military parade is a celebration of the country's military might, critics say it is an expensive ($45 million plus) event meant to, simply, showcase his authoritarian leanings.
The controversial parade comes at a time when tariffs and trade wars have negatively impacted folks all over, including many of Trump's supporters.
They also come as Trump's agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have been abducting immigrants all over while wearing masks, not showing warrants, and doing so in front of children (in some cases abducting them too).
In Meriden, a high school graduate missed his commencement this week because he was abducted along with his father and taken away to a detention facility.
In Southington, meanwhile, four immigrants working at a local car wash were abruptly questioned, then abducted into an unmarked vehicle and, simply, taken away.
Sweeps like this, which prompted protests in Los Angeles and Trump's controversial decision to send in American troops to combat American protesters there, have led to protests nationally.
