Art Gala benefits Richard B. Fried Fund for AIDS Connecticut

Canton resident Joel Fried said benefitting organization does much good with money raised in his late brother's honor.

The 4th Annual Art 4 AIDS benefit is slated to take place in Hartford on June 8.

The event helps raise funds for the Richard B. Fried Fund for AIDS Connecticut, an endowment administered by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.

Fried, who died in 1986, was the brother of Canton resident and businessman Joel Fried.

The funds have benefitted what is now AIDS Connecticut (ACT).

The organization largely provides support services and advocacy.

"(AIDS) is an ongoing issue," Joel Fried said. "I think that organization does a great deal of good helping folks."

His late brother was a vice president at the Walt Disney Company as well as a writer and pioneer in the home video business.

General admission and VIP slots are available for the event at $50 and $100.

Each attendee gets to take home a 9" X 12" piece of art. The event also includes an art show/sale, music, food and guest emcees Matt Scott and Tracy Julian.

Tickets are limited and can be purchased through the links at http://www.aids-ct.org/art.htm.
