Members of the Canton Police Department and other employees gathered earlier this week to say thank you to Anne Raftery.
For the past three and a half years, Raftery has been administrative assistant to the chief of police and records office.
“Both on a personal and professional level, Anne did a fantastic job as the assistant to the police department and the police chief,” said Chief Christopher Arciero. “She is a great asset to the town of Canton and the police department.”

Raftery is a Canton native and 1970 graduate of Canton High School. She went on to obtain a degree I education from then central Connecticut State College and after a stint in Ecuador with the peace corps taught sociology at Canton High School in 1978.
She then spent several years out of state, working at schools, an office manager for a magazine and in real estate.

In 2005, she moved back to Collinsville and worked as for Ethel Walker School for three years.
She also works as part time administrator for the athletic department of Avon Old Farms and will keep that job, along with a part-time one at Ethel Walker.
Raftery said she has really enjoyed her time at the police department.
“It’s been a privilege to work with every person that’s been in an out of this building in the last three and a half years,” Raftery said.
Taking her place at the police department was Sue Brodeur, who transferred from the town’s land-use office to take the job.
