Canton Shopping Destination Also A Place To Give Blood

CANTON, CT — A major shopping area in Canton is, again, partnering with the American Red Cross to host several blood drives this year, with several incentive programs for donors.

The Shops at Farmington Valley said its third annual partnership with the Red Cross for life-saving monthly blood drives begins Tuesday, Feb. 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., 110 Albany Turnpike, Canton.

Shopping center officials said the other blood drive dates are the following: Tuesday, March 26; Monday, April 15; Friday, May 17; Wednesday, June 26; Thursday, July 25; and Thursday, Aug. 22.

On donation days, donors will be celebrated each month with various rewards, including 10 percent discounts at the following retailers and eateries: Kindred and Crew; Ben and Jerry's; Jefferson Fry Co.; Mercato Italian Kitchen & Bar - (10% off food, excluding Happy Hour); and Purebarre.

Additionally, donors can enter a raffle at each drive to win gift cards from Sephora, Old Navy, and Sur la Table.

Participants can enter into a raffle to receive up to $200 in gift cards to the selected shops.

Gift card prizes include a $100 gift card to Sephora, a $50 gift card to Old Navy, and a $50 gift card to Sur la Table.

“In 2023, The Shops were able to host nine blood drives and collect enough blood to help over 400 people,” said Elizabeth Ackerman, general manager at The Shops. “We are excited to partner with The American Red Cross again this year to make an even greater impact for those in need.

"We have some incredible prizes to be given away to donors, including gift cards to retailers and additional 'donor days discounts' for those who donate blood, as we hope to have a great turnout again this year to support this incredible organization.”
