According to the latest Canton budget figures, the spending plan for 2025-26 is comprised of:

• A $50.82 million combined town/school budget, which is $2.2 million — or 4.54 percent — larger than current spending.

• A $13.1 million general government budget, which is $716,749 — or 5.79 percent — larger.

• A $34.89 million education budget, which is $1.97 million — or 5.98 percent — larger.

According to the town, this proposed budget would require a mill rate of 33.5 (the second year of a planned revaluation phase-in program), which is 1.65 mills larger than the current mill rate.

That means, for a home assessed at $250,000, the new tax bills this year would be $412.50 larger than last year.
