Canton's Dunkin' Catches Fire: FD

The Canton Fire & EMS Department rushed to the popular coffee/doughnut shop Saturday morning.

CANTON, CT — America may run on Dunkin, but it's never a good thing when firefighters have to run to Dunkin.'

But that's what happened Saturday morning when firefighters from the Canton Fire & EMS Department rushed to 140 Albany Turnpike, Canton, to the Dunkin' Donuts shop there.

The bad news was what firefighters described as a "rooftop fire" at the Dunkin' Donuts.

The good news was that the situation proved to be a quick fix for the Canton FD.

"The fire was brought under control quickly, and the business has since reopened," wrote firefighters.

The Dunkin' fire was the second high-profile incident in as many days for local firefighters.

On Friday afternoon, Sept. 5, the Canton Fire & EMS Department, along with mutual aid partners, battled a house fire on Bahre Corner Road.

That blaze, too, had a relatively satisfactory resolution, with no injuries reported; however, the department is still investigating the cause of that fire as well.
