Huge Canton Halloween Celebration Is This Weekend
The 41st annual 'Collinsville Halloween Parade' promises laughter, screams, ... and candy.
CANTON, CT — The town's most eagerly anticipated Halloween celebration is this weekend in the form of the 31st annual Collinsville Halloween Parade.
It all starts on Saturday, Oct. 25, beginning at 6 p.m., when the main streets in Collinsville will close to traffic and open to all who are "brave and daring enough."
Then at 7 p.m., the parade commences as costumed folks will stroll the downtown Collinsville section of Canton.

The idea of a Halloween Parade along the streets of Collinsville was the brainchild of Jon Squier and a few fellow "C-villains" in 1994, wrote event organizers online.
At 6 p.m., as dusk takes over the village of Collinsville, from the balcony at the Canton Historical Museum, pre-parade antics kick off with the annual screaming procession, music, and candy.

At 7 p.m., the parade ritual begins on Main Street.
"The Phantom Organist’s haunting pipe organ sounds can be heard, and all those who are Halloween-donned follow the fog and music down Main Street and around The Green," wrote organizers.
Meanwhile, "Judges of Doom" will be searching for the scariest, most original, and funniest costumes of the night.
After the parade, ghosts, goblins, and goons congregate again at the balcony for the judging of the costumes.
