Regional Health District To Host Youth Mental Health Training
The FVHD in Canton serves Avon, Barkhamsted, Canton, Colebrook, East Granby, Farmington, Granby, Hartland, New Hartford, and Simsbury.
CANTON, CT — The Canton-based Farmington Valley Health District is hosting free classes later this month to help participants cope/identify mental health issues in young people.
The FVHD is hosting what its calling "Youth Mental Health First Aid" at its offices located at 95 River Road, Canton.
Classes will take place from 5 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, and Thursday, April 3.

The FVHD serves the towns of Avon, Barkhamsted, Canton, Colebrook, East Granby, Farmington, Granby, Hartland, New Hartford. amd Simsbury.
"Do you work or live with children and adolescents? This is a free course for adults about supporting the mental health of youth in their lives," wrote the FVHD in an announcement.

To get certified in the course, participants must attend and complete both sessions.
Such certification is good for anyone who works or lives with children, whether they're parents or teachers.
Course materials will help participants indentify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges.
