A graduate of Central Connecticut State University in New Britain with degree in corporate fitness, she has spent the past 32 years training hundreds of clients ranging in ages from 8 to 96.
In her new book "North of Forty," Hurst and photographer Nick Cinea tell the stories of over 50 senior athletes ranging from ages 54 to 103, marathoners to martial artists to mountaineers, ordinary and extraordinary people.
“Physical training is my passion and as a runner myself, I was inspired by senior athletes who I would see participating in long challenging running races, oftentimes seeing them cross the finish line after everyone else was already done and the race was nearly closing up,” said Hurst.
“I thought to myself, these are amazing athletes who are not just enduring the physical challenge that comes with age, but who are also so mentally strong that it keeps their body going. It really is mind over matter and I wanted to pay tribute to these incredible athletes in hopes to inspire others to keep going.”
At the event, guests will see a presentation by Hurst and each attendee will receive a signed copy of her book and a gift bag from Bodyfit Physical Therapy. Tickets are $20 per person.
