Theatre Troupe Performs In Collinsville Sunday Morning

While the theatre hopes to return for Halloween, the next Market on Main will take place Aug. 25.

New Hampshire-based Momentum Theatre Troupe performed as part of Market on Main in Collinsville Sunday.

The group performed two plays on a rotating basis — a short one-act called "The Man Who Turned into a Dog" and the other a musical called "Carnival of Saints."

"I hope it's the beginning of a beautiful friendship," said Sean Eastman, the theatre's artistic director.

Troupe members even indicated they would love to perform at the annual Collinsville Halloween parade, market organizer Kate McAllister said.

Assistant troupe stage manager Alysia Todd's grandparents live in Riverton, where Village Sweet Shoppe started.

When Todd talked to Sweet Shoppe owner Shirley Scarpino, who now operates from a storefront on River Street in Colinsville, about places to perform, the Market on Main Street came up.

The next Market on Main, featuring arts and craft vendors, will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 25 on Main Street between The Green and Market Street.

The weekly Collinsville Farmer's Market will run in the Town Hall parking lot during the same hours.

And who knows, perhaps Steve English will bring his pedicab.
