CANTON, CT — Nearly a year ago, the new Canton Fire & EMS firehouse on River Road officially opened, celebrating the department's future to keep the community safe.

Now, construction has begun on the Canton Fire & EMS Memorial Garden to honor those who have saved lives and property in the past.

"This space is dedicated to all the Firefighters, EMTs, and Fire Police who have faithfully served the Canton community — including those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty," wrote the department Thursday.
