The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) today reopened the swimming areas at the following state beaches that were closed Tuesday: <ul> <li>Wharton Brook State Park – Wallingford</li> <li>Wadsworth Falls State Park – Middlefield</li> <li>Chatfield Hollow State Park – Killingworth</li> <li>Indian Well State Park – Shelton</li> <li>Day Pond State Park – Colchester</li> </ul> The swimming area at Gay City State Park is Hebron is now closed as a result of elevated bacteria in samples taken at the park on Tuesday. The swimming area at Gay City will be re-sampled today with results available Thursday. All other state park beaches, including all four shoreline beaches are open the rest of the week and for the upcoming weekend.
