Cheshire Cops Arrest FLA Man In Decade-Old Sexual Assault Of Minor: PD
An investigation was launched in November 2024 after police were made aware of the incident, police said.
CHESHIRE, CT — A Florida man has been charged with sexually assaulting a minor in Cheshire a decade ago.
Simon Vasquez Bautista was arrested on a warrant and charged with third-degree sexual assault (use or threat of force, victim under 16) and illegal sexual contact (victim under 16), police said.
Cheshire police detectives launched an investigation on Nov. 20, 2024.

The Osceola County Sheriff's Office in Florida forwarded the complaint to Cheshire police after the minor made a disclosure to a school resource officer, police said.
Cheshire detectives traveled to Florida twice to conduct interviews. The Florida Department of Children and Families and the Osceola County Sheriff's Office assisted local police.

Vasquez Bautista was taken into custody on Dec. 8 in Florida, and he waived extradition. Cheshire police detectives took him into custody on Monday. Vasquez Bautista is scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Meriden today.
