Cheshire Resident Tapped for ACES Assistant Director Position

A Cheshire resident and long-time educator is taking on a new role at Area Cooperative Educational Services.

Erika Forte was recently named Assistant Executive Director for Curriculum and Programs at ACES effective July 1. 

Forte has served as the principal of ACES Mill Road School since joining ACES in 1998. Prior to joining ACES, Ms. Forte served as the Supervisor of Special Education for the Milford Public Schools from 1992 – 1998. She began her career as a special education teacher and has taught in Hamden, as well as Springfield, Massachusetts.

"I am very excited about my new position as Assistant Executive Director of Curriculum and Programs.  As a 15 year employee of ACES, I believe strongly in the mission statement and goals assuring that all students can learn," Forte said. "With such a diversified population, ACES is a unique environment that provides quality programming to all of our students and clients.   

The move is bittersweet, Forte said.

"Leaving Mill Road will be difficult – I have loved every minute I have spent with the students, parents and districts that I have worked with over these 15 years," she said, "but I look forward to new challenges, new learning experiences and bringing new ideas to all of the programs that ACES runs." 

“We are delighted that Erika Forte has accepted the position...Erika is highly respected in our ACES region and has demonstrated her unwavering commitment to our agency for the past 15 years," said Dr. Craig W. Edmondson, ACES executive director. "I look forward to working with her in her new capacity, and am confident that she will contribute greatly to the ACES community” 

ACES is the Regional Educational Service Center for the 25 school districts in South Central, Connecticut. ACES programs, schools and services include adult and vocational programs, magnet schools and interdistrict programs, children and adolescent services, professional development and school improvement, and technology services.
