First Ryan Lee Memorial Scholarship Awarded at Junior Tournament

The Trojanowski Northern Junior Tournament awards scholarship in memory of Ryan Lee, son of Cheshire High School basketball coach Dan Lee.

The Ryan Lee Memorial Scholarship Committee awarded its first scholarship this week to Alyssa Scheyd of Berlin.

The scholarship is in honor of Ryan Lee, who died in April. Lee, a two-time past champion and Stan Trojanowski Northern Junior Committee member, was a member of the Long Island University Golf Team.

Ryan Lee is the son of Cheshire High School basketball coach Dan Lee.

The scholarship is intended for young men and women wishing to play collegiate golf and who also portray the same honor and appreciation for the game of golf as Ryan Lee.

Scheyd will attend Lehigh University this fall, where she will play collegiate golf. Twice a captain of the 2011 State Champion Berlin High School team, Scheyd was recognized on the All-State team. She is also a member of the National Honor Society.

Two Cheshire golfers placed well in the tournament. Gil Lassen placed 15th out of roster of 90 golfers. He scored a one under par 71 in his first round. Lassen finished the two rounds with a three over par score of 147.

Andra Frappier a Cheshire High School golfer, finished 14th in the pack with a 16 over par in two rounds with a score of 160.
