UPDATE: Man Dies in Cheshire Medical Emergency

Police responded to a Summit Road residence where a 52-year-old man had collapsed in the yard.

UPDATE, 4:30 p.m.

A 52-year-old man involved in a medical emergency on Summit Road has died, according to police.

Cheshire Police responded to the residence for an unknown medical emergency and upon arrival the man was found to have collapsed in the yard, partially in a small pond, according to Lt. Jeffrey Sutherland.

Sutherland said resuscitation efforts by first responders and ambulance personnel began on scene and continued until the victim was pronounced dead at St. Mary’s Hospital.

The victim has been identified as Jay P. Garrity, 52, of 14 Rowland Dr. in Prospect.

Sutherland said the cause of death is unknown at this time and still under investigation.

Cheshire Police said they went to a Summit Road home for an unknown medical emergency and the emergency medical treatment was provided at the scene by first responders and ambulance personnel.

The person was transported to the hospital, according to Lt. Jeffrey Sutherland.

Police are investigating the incident.
