There's no dearth of interest in the recently approved $32 million Water Pollution Control plant upgrade.
The town last week went out to bid on the project, and a tour of the facility attracted a number of firms interested in winning the job.
More than a dozen potential bidders attended the tour on Thursday at the plant at 1325 Cheshire St.
The plant's equipment has outlived its useful life and needs to be replaced with more modern equipment that can handle the town's needs. Residents last November approved spending the money to upgrade the plant.
The plant hasn't seen an upgrade in more than two decades. The state is expected to pick up about $7 million of the project's cost.
Bids are due back next month and the work on the plant is scheduled to begin after Labor Day. It's expected that the work will take up to four years to complete.
