Two-Day Symposium Explores how the World has Changed Since Sept 11
Quinnipiac University to present symposium to commemorate the10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks.

To mark the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, Quinnipiac University will present a two-day symposium; “How 9/11 Has Changed the World."
The free event, which is open to the public, will be held Sept 8-9.

- Anat Biletzki, the Schweitzer professor of philosophy at Quinnipiac, and Shamshad Sheikh, a Muslim adviser, will take part in the panel discussion, “Reflection on the Effect of 9/11 on the World,” from 12:15-1:30 p.m.
- Panel discussion on “The Media and 9/11” featuringMargarita Diaz, chair and assistant professor of journalism at Quinnipiac, Paul Friedman, the former executive vice president of CBS News who is now a professional-in-residence at Quinnipiac. Also on panel is Brian Stelter, a media reporter for The New York Times. Event will be held from 2-3:15 p.m.
- Quinnipiac School of Law Professors William Dunlap and Jeffrey Meyer will discuss “International Law and Homeland Security” from 3:30-4:15 p.m.
All Sept. 8 panel discussions will take place in the Mancheski Executive Seminar Room in the Lender School of Business Center on the Mount Carmel Campus.

- Members of the Quinnipiac community who lost family members on Sept. 11 will share their stories from 12-1:30 p.m. in the Clarice L. Buckman Theater on the Mount Carmel Campus. Among those scheduled to attend is Laura Ogonowski, a 2008 Quinnipiac alumna whose father, John Ogonowski, died when he was piloting American Airlines Flight 11, the first plane to be hijacked and flown into the World Trade Center on Sept. 11.
- Panel discussion, “Lessons Learned and Future Directions,” from 2-4 p.m. in the Clarice L. Buckman Theater. The panel will include Diane Ariza, associate vice president for academic affairs and chief diversity officer at Quinnipiac, David Ives, executive director of the Albert Schweitzer Institute, and Linda Meyer, a professor at the School of Law at Quinnipiac.
