Winning Teams Announced for Josh Budd Benefit Tournament

The tournament attracted 24 teams and raised thousands of dollars for the Budd family.

The division winners for the Josh Budd Benefit Tournament are:

 Adult Division:

"Below" team won the division over “Gillette's Digital Edge” by a score of 12-6. A game synopsis written by the "Below" coach Leo Rider follows:

Dom Severino hit a towering grand slam into the woods at Bartlem park as team “Below” defeated team “Gillette's Digital Edge." The Team finished 4-0 and was lead by great defense and pitching.

Ryan Rougeot at 3b, Tyler Robertson at 2b, Matt Croteau and excellent play in the outfield by Dan Rider, Mike Severino and Mike Garguilo.

Other contributors with  the bats were Chris Didonato, Peter Flight, Brian Looney, Matt Jefferis and Leo Rider who also pitched all 4 games. "It was a great day for a worthy cause."

 High School Division:

In a rain shortened game, team “Odermatt” defeated team “Bourdeau”  by a score of 7-3.

 Youth Division:

Team “Kozlowski” (Cheshire 9u Reds) defeated team “Juodaitis” by a score of 10-0.

Tournament fund-raising:

An exact amount of funds raised hasn't yet been announced, but CYB reports it will be several thousand dollars.

The tournament was held in support of Pfc. Joshua Budd who was injured while serving in Afghanistan. He is being treated at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Maryland.

Budd lost a leg in the explosion and his other leg was severally injured. Dave Budd, Joshua Budd's father, said his son received skin grafts last week on his leg. Dave Budd said there is no date yet on when his son can return home to Cheshire.
