Work Planned Around Cheshire High School "Senior Walk"
Moisture in the underground tunnels at the high school has led to drainage problems that will be remedied this summer.

The area at Cheshire High School known as the "Senior Walk" will have a different look after work is done this summer to correct drainage problems.
The courtyard area has drainage problems that stem from underground tunnels that house steam pipes, water supply pipes, waste lines and electrical conduits.
The problems have led to problems with indoor air quality inside the building that has led to a larger project being overseen by the Public Buildings Commission. In April 2012 the town hired GeoInsight Inc. to formulate a solution to the problems with the tunnels.
As part of that work, this summer the trees in the area of the Senior Walk will be removed and the drainage will be replaced. After putting the project out the bid, the Public Building Commission chose Blake Contracting for the project for a price of $52,225.
The work will require all but two of the existing trees in the courtyard to be replaced. The two trees left will be trimmed.
The work is expected to begin in July and be finished before school starts in September.
