1 Dead, 2 Missing In Old Saybrook Boat Accident
A boat carrying 9 people crashed into a jetty Monday night, according to state officials.

OLD SAYBROOK, CT — One man is dead and two people are missing after a boat accident in Old Saybrook, according to a statement from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP). The accident occurred at 9:15 p.m. Monday.
DEEP Environmental Conservation Police along with other agencies responded to the report and found a single motorboat half-submerged near Harbor One Marina.
The boat had suffered significant damage. Nine people were on the boat at the time of the crash, DEEP said. One man died, six were transported to the hospital, and two people were still missing.

A search being conducted for the two people still missing was suspended overnight and will resume in the morning, according to DEEP.
Several agencies responded to the emergency local firefighters, including local firefighters, Middlesex Health EMTs, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the State Police Dive Unit.

The man who died was found inside the boat, according to WTNH News-8. Several people were ejected from the boat.
The boat's operator is in critical condition. One of the six hospitalized has been released, WTNH News-8 reported.
It's not yet clear how the accident happened.
