Cappella Cantorum Masterworks Chorus Spring Concert Sunday April 21
At First Church of Christ, features The Peacemakers by Karl Jenkins, representing, "All religions, all singing one song: Peace be with you."

OLD SAYBROOK, CT βCappella Cantorum presents its Spring Concert at First Church of Christ in Saybrook, 366 Main St., Old Saybrook Sunday, April 21, at 3 p.m., featuring The Peacemakers by Karl Jenkins. The work is "dedicated to the memory of all those who lost their lives during armed conflict, in particular innocent civilians."
The Masterworks Chorus and Cappella Orchestra will be conducted by Simon Holt, and as a special feature, the chorus will be joined by Select Singers, a youth choir from Lyme-Old Lyme High School, under Choral Director Kristine Pekar.

The Peacemakers includes words of peace from iconic, world-changing figures such as Gandhi,
Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King, along with other inspirational quotations of Mother
Teresa, Albert Schweitzer, Anne Frank and the Dalai Lama. Also featured are religious texts from the Bible, the Qurβan, St Francis of Assisi and BahΓ‘βuβllΓ‘h, and the poetry of Shelley, Malory, Terry Waite and Carol Barratt.
One line from the Persian mystic poet Rumi sums up the ethos of the work: βAll religions, all singing one song: Peace be with youβ.

Holt is the Music Director of Cappella Cantorum and the First Congregational Church of
Old Lyme, as well as the Founder and Artistic Director of Salt Marsh Opera.
Soprano Lisa Williamson will be the featured soloist for The Peacemakers.
Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door ($15 for students 18 & under; children under 6

Established in 1970, Cappella Cantorum is a non-auditioned community choral group that
provides singers of all ages the opportunity to learn, perform, and share great choral music. In
addition to twice yearly concerts and an annual Handel's Messiah Sing or Listen, the group
promotes music education and appreciation through its SummerSings program, vocal training
workshops, and other events open to the public. Originally founded to serve the Lower
Connecticut River Valley and Shoreline area, Cappella Cantorum now has members from more
