Clinton Police Department Honors Officers at Awards Ceremony

At a recent ceremony, the Clinton Police Department awarded 11 commendations and meritorious service awards to several of its officers.

At a May 15 ceremony, the Clinton Police Department held a formal Award Ceremony to honor several of their officers. Awards included commendations and meritorious service awards.Β 

"We haven't held a formal ceremony for years," Major John F. Carbone told Clinton Patch. "For these awards, the supervisors makeΒ recommendations, and the Chief has the final say."

Most of the awards given are for 2012.

Three civilians also received awards:

  • Michael Levesque for Lifesaving
  • Rev. Robert Appleby for Commission Citation
  • David Long for Commission Citation

For the selfless act of assisting the Newtown Police Department following the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy in December 2012:

  • Officer Joseph E. O'Brien
  • Rev. Robert Appleby
For vigilance and immediate action in safe guarding the life of another on October 7, 2011:
  • Corporal Natasha L. Pucillo
  • Corporal Kyle J. Strunjo
  • Dispatcher Anastasios Clados
  • Dispatcher Edolyne Long
For initiative and tenacity shown in developing information that led to the arrest of a drug dealer on Sept. 18, 2012:
  • Officer Gregory V. Matakaetis
For the selfless act while responding off duty to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 95 on Sept. 18, 2012:
  • Major John F. Carbone
For outstanding professionalism while dispatching during a severe motor vehicle accident on Nov. 11, 2012:
  • Dispatcher Karen E. Gee
For persistent and alert actions while assisting with a successful K9 track on Dec. 10, 2012:
  • Officer Christopher J. Varone
For quick and decisive action while responding to a home fire on Dec. 15, 2012:

For rendering assistance beyond the normal course of duty to a seriously injured child on Sept. 17, 2012:
