Clinton Senior Connection Celebrates 1-Year Anniversary w/ Flowers!

A fundraiser in partnership with Clinton Stop & Shop

CLINTON, CTβ€”There is a lot to celebrate this June for Clinton Senior Connection, the town’s senior program launched in June 2022. In addition to a year of consistent growth, increasing from only a few members at its infancy to over 400 just shy of a year, this active group is also celebrating its selection as Stop & Shop’s Bloomin’ 4 Good Program Beneficiary throughout the month of June.

The way the program works is simple: For every $10.99 bouquet in the sleeve marked β€œBloomin’ 4 Good” purchased at Clinton’s Stop & Shop at 215 East Main Street, $1 will go directly to fund new events and services offered at Clinton Senior Connection. It’s not only an easy way a shopper can give back to his/her community, but also more than fitting, said program coordinator, Christina Acampora, to celebrate the one-year anniversary of our cherished group of seniors… with flowers!

Clinton Senior Connection was recognized by the store’s leadership team as an organization making a notable impact in the community where shoppers live and work. Its main objective is to empower older adults through enriching, often times recreational or educational, senior-focused programming centered around connection. Some of the activities enjoyed by the members during the first year included creative writing, live music, cooking, art workshops, walking groups, guided hiking and kayak tours, ballroom dancing, financial seminars, boat cruises, theater, yoga and more.

Funds raised from this outreach effort, offered by Stop & Shop, will help further offset the cost of Clinton Senior Connection’s unique programming and enable additional opportunities for seniors to socialize with one another through more mobile events. β€œI am always looking for new and engaging events that seniors can enjoy while feeling deeply valued by their community,” said Acampora. β€œRecently for Mother’s Day, I hosted a party for the women in the group to come enjoy manicures and receive henna tattoos provided by two local vendors. We had cake and music and warm paraffin for their hands… I think everyone who came really felt the importance they have within this community.”

With new members joining the group every week, Acampora knows her event calendar, hours on the job, and cost of programming will continue to bloom as well. β€œI’m grateful to anyone who supports the Bloomin’ 4 Good Program throughout the month of June, so I can plan many more fun and different events,” she said. β€œSo with all these graduations, dance recitals, and other summer celebrations on the horizon, remember to look for the β€œBloomin’ 4 Good” marking on the plastic bouquet sleeve of flowers you’re buying and just know you are brightening a lot more than just one person’s day by making that purchase.”
