Community Rallies To Support Old Saybrook Family Devastated By Fire

'They have lost everything,' the GoFundMe page reads. 'All his family pictures and videos. Everything is gone.'

OLD SAYBROOK, CT — The community is rallying to support an Old Saybrook family devastated by a fire last week.

Sondra Lintelmann-Dellaripa wrote in a GoFundMe appeal that her brother's home, which was also "our grandparents' ancestral home," was destroyed in a fire Saturday.

"Everything is gone," she wrote. "He and Molly got out with their Rottweiler Tank and the clothes on their back. Eric didn’t even have shoes.

"Praise God they are safe."

She said the fire was "devastating." Her brother has two teenagers who were not home at the time.

"They have lost everything. Clothes, electronics, household items. All of his business records, tools, and equipment. Eric is self employed as a painting contractor. Everything is gone.

"All his family pictures and videos."

Currently, they are staying with family.

Lintelmann-Dellaripa wrote that "family, friends and community have reached out to help..."

The fundraiser has generated $30,585 from 302 donations, exceeding the $10,000 target.
