Farm-To-Table Restaurant Opens In Westbrook

A new "modern farm-to-table, locally sourced tavern, located in the heart of Westbrook" has opened.

WESTBROOK, CT — The Charter Oak Tavern opened Wednesday in Westbrook. The restaurant and bar is located at 24 Westbrook Place and offers "top-quality, locally sourced food and handcrafted drinks in a welcoming, Victorian-inspired atmosphere," according to its website.

Menu options include entrees like a 10-oz. strip steak, roasted organic chicken, and pan-seared salmon, along with starters, salads, and sides. Beverage choices include wine, beer, and cocktails, as well as non-alcoholic options.

The site is the former Military Historians Headquarters & Museum, which has been transformed into a farmhouse tavern, according to The Connecticut Scoop. The site was slated to become The Whole Enchilada, a Tex-Mex restaurant, but plans fell through during construction.
