WESTBROOK, CT — Eddy Alberto Zapata-Cardenas, 23, of Dish Mill Road in Higganum, was killed when the 2007 Honda CRV-EX he was driving was involved in a single-vehicle crash, state police said. At 1:41 a.m. Saturday, Zapata-Cardenas was driving eastbound on Route 1 just prior to Post Avenue and while negotiating a left-hand curve he travelled into the right shoulder and struck a curb, state police said. The vehicle then struck a tree and parked motor vehicle before rolling over and coming to an uncontrolled final rest on its driver's side, state police said. He was pronounced dead at an area hospital. The accident is under investigation. If you have any information, you're asked to call state police at 860-399-2100.
