Longtime Clinton Elementary Teacher Found Dead At State Park

The town is mourning the passing of a longtime educator who was found dead earlier this week.

CLINTON, CT β€” The town is mourning the death of a longtime educator at Lewin G. Joel Jr. Elementary School, according to The New Haven Register. John "Jack" Reynolds was remembered for his sense of humor and big heart by commenters on Clinton social media groups.

One user posted about Reynolds: "He touched many lives over the past 20+ years of teaching. A kind, gentle man who will be sorely missed."

A paraeducator in Reynolds' classroom described him as a gentleman and a scholar who was full of life and wisdom, according to The New Haven Register.

Reynolds, 57, lived in Westbrook and had worked at the elementary school since 1997. He was found dead Tuesday at the Pattaconk Recreation Area. Foul play is not suspected.

According to his obituary, which is listed by Swan Funeral Home, Reynolds starred on the University of New Haven basketball team and graduated from Ledyard High School.

"Jack’s passion was public education and the community of Clinton," his obituary reads. "He was kind and generous to friend and stranger alike, and a relentless supporter of local charities and fundraisers."
