Missing Westbrook Man Found Dead In Pond

The man was last seen in late July. His overturned canoe was later found at Messerschmidt Pond.

WESTBROOK, CT — A missing Westbrook man's body was found Saturday in Messerschmidt Pond, officials confirmed to Patch.

Andrew Corbett, 38, had been missing since July 30, when he was last seen that night at a CVS in Groton.

His overturned canoe was discovered Aug. 1 at Messerschmitt Pond, where his vehicle was parked nearby.

The search ended Saturday afternoon, when Corbett's body was discovered in the pond, according to a spokesperson for the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection.

The State Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine Corbett's cause and manner of death.
