The new theater will feature concessions with beer, wine, hot foods & what the owners said is the best popcorn in Southeastern Connecticut.

WESTBROOK, CT β€” A new movie theater is coming soon to the Westbrook Outlets.

The post on the theater’s website says it is β€œreopening soon.”

The former Marquee Cinemas closed on Sept. 28. A post on the theater’s website announced the closing, saying β€œWe would like to thank you for your support and patronage over the years.”

James Cox, the chief operating officer of Marquee Cinemas, told Zip06.com at the time that the theater’s lease expired Sept. 30 and the continued impact of the COVID-19 pandemic made operations difficult. He also said the landlord planned to find a new operator to reopen the location, according to Zip06.com.

The new Westbrook Cinemas will feature concessions with beer, wine and hot foods, according to its website.

β€œWe carry the typical theatre concessions; our popcorn is the best in Southeastern Connecticut and we have REAL BUTTER, not a substitute,” a post on the website reads. β€œOur concession prices are the LOWEST in the region. We feature local WINE and BEER and hot foods such as CHICKEN FINGERS, FRIES and more.”

A grand-opening date wasn’t immediately clear, but the website lists feature films starting in January.

Another Facebook post lists the new Tom Hanks movie, β€œA Man Called Otto,” as coming to Westbrook Cinemas on Jan. 13.
