Old Lyme Woman Accused Of Stealing Valuables While Dog-Sitting: Police
The woman took jewelry and other valuables and pawned them, according to police.
WESTBROOK — An Old Lyme woman is accused of swiping jewelry and other valuables from homes in Westbrook while she was dog-sitting.
Shannon L. Crandall, 45, of Old Lyme, was charged Wednesday with first-degree larceny and fourth-degree larceny.
The charges stem from two separate warrants, as police said they received complaints from multiple residents.

According to arrest warrant affidavits, police received a complaint from a Westbrook resident in late January. The individual reported hiring Crandall to dog-sit in late December and then noticed four rings missing, with an estimated total value of $1,000. An investigation showed that Crandall had pawned the rings, police said.
Police also received a complaint from a Westbrook resident who hired Crandall to dog sit in January. This individual reported returning home and discovering 10 Spanish coins missing, along with a Rolex watch, rings, and necklaces, all with an estimated total value of $31,706. Police said an investigation showed Crandall had pawned matching items.

When questioned, Crandall told police she had taken valuables while dogsitting and pawned them, police said.
Crandall was arraigned in Superior Court in Middletown on Feb. 27.
