Opera Theater of Connecticut Announces Schedule for Verdi's "Rigoletto"
Opera Theater of Connecticut will perform four shows of Verdi's "Rigoletto" this summer.

Opera Theater of Connecticut will celebrate Verdiβs 200th birthday this August with four special performances right here in Clinton.Β
Opera Theater will present Verdiβs βRigolettoβ Β at Andrews Memorial Theatre on 54 Main Street. The show will be sung in Italian and subtitles will be projected. The show opens on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at 7:30 p.m, which will be followd by a reception. The performance continues on Thursday, Aug. 8, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday Aug. 10 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 11 at 6 p.m.Β
According to the announcement, Metropolitan Opera artistΒ Galen Scott BowerΒ debuts with Opera Theater in the title role of the complex and compellingΒ character of the tormented jester and yet loving father.
And, NewΒ York City opera singerΒ Amanda Hall is returning to OTC's summer MainStage as Gilda, Rigoletto's lovely and innocent daughter who is seduced and betrayed by the Duke of Mantua. Hall performed Lucia last year in Opera Theater's acclaimed Lucia diΒ Lammermoor.

International rising-starΒ Alok KumarΒ makes his debut in the role of Duke Β of Mantua. TheΒ Indian-born tenor has been heard in many of the most romantic lead roles in opera from around the worldβs great stages.
Also appearing are Connecticut native, Nicholas MastersΒ as the assassin Sparafucile; JenniferΒ FeinsteinΒ as the sultry siren Maddalena; and, as the powerful noblemanΒ Monterone whose curse sets the tragic wheel in motion, Alexander Hahn.Β

ChristopherΒ Lucier, Luke ScottΒ andΒ LaurentiuΒ RotaruΒ sing the roles of the courtiersΒ Borsa, Marullo and Ceprano, supporters and sycophants of the decadent Duke.Β SopranoΒ Theresa PilzΒ appears as the Countess Ceprano, the lovely focusΒ of the Dukeβs recent fascination.Β
Opera Theater also features Opera Talk, an informal, informativeΒ talk about the eveningβs opera and composer, by Artistic Director Alan MannΒ starting one hour and a half before each performance. Opera Talk tickets are $5.00. Boxed Suppers Al Fresco Style from Chips Pub III are availableΒ through the Opera Theater of Connecticut office for $15.00 and need to beΒ reserved 48 hours in advance.Β
