• Stop & Shop Plans To Close Clinton Store: Here's When, Why (patch.com) — Stop & Shop has confirmed it will close its Clinton supermarket on East Main Street at the end of 2026 because the store isn’t meeting financial expectations, though employees can transfer to other locations. The closure follows TJ Maxx’s recent departure from the same plaza and comes as Aldi plans a store across the street and Whole Foods moves ahead in nearby Old Saybrook.
