Prominent Discount Retailer Completes Move Out Of Clinton
The national brand has closed its location at a Clinton shopping plaza and will be opening its new location in a nearby town this week.
CLINTON, CT — The TJ Maxx at Clinton Shopping Plaza officially closed Monday. The store is opening a new location at Guilford Commons on Thursday.
The 25,000-square-foot space at 215 in E. Main St. in Clinton is now being listed for lease with True Commercial Real Estate out of Fairfield, according to The Connecticut Scoop.
The national discount retailer informed the Town of Clinton it would be leaving more than a year ago. A Clinton official called the closing a "major loss to the town."

T.J. Maxx is a chain that offers brand-name clothing, shoes, home decor, handbags and more. Previously, the retailer confirmed it would be opening at 1919 Boston Post Road in Guilford Commons in a 21,900-square-foot space that was formerly home to Bed Bath & Beyond, which closed in 2023.
Other tenants at Guilford Commons include DSW, F45 Training, Ivy Rehab, Mattress Firm, Michaels, Mooyah Burgers & Fries, Panera Bread, Petco, Pure Barre, Spavia, The Fresh Market, T-Mobile, Ulta, and Verizon Wireless.

Old Navy also opened a store in Guilford Commons earlier this year after the clothing store left Westbrook Outlets.
Parent TJX Companies operates T.J. Maxx as well as Marshalls, HomeGoods, Sierra, and HomeSense.
TJ Maxx in Guilford will be open Monday through Sunday 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
