Scammers Target Land Use Applicants In Clinton
Town officials are warning residents about a new scam that requests a wire transfer.
CLINTON, CT — The town said that scammers are attempting to defraud people who have pending applications with the town's land use boards and commissions.
The applications are receiving fraudulent invoices requesting that applicants wire funds to complete payment.
Police are investigating.

Here's the full statement from the Town of Clinton:
"The Town of Clinton is aware that multiple parties with pending applications before Land Use Boards and Commissions have received fraudulent invoices requesting that applicants wire funds to complete payment. The Clinton Police Department is investigating this matter. All fees for land use applications are processed through our online permitting system. Any resident or applicant receiving a request for payment should contact the land use office at (860) 669-6133 to verify payment or if you suspect this is fraudulent, please contact the Police Department non-emergency number at (860) 669-0451."
