Stoney Creek Museum & Dudley Farm Host Final Lectures in Series
Shoreline Adult Education's lecture series on local history ends on November 17

(CLINTON, CT)- Shoreline Adult Education's lecture series on local history wraps up on Wednesday, November 17 with presentations at the Stoney Creek Museum and Dudley Farm.
"Rest in Peace. Dudley Family Gravestone Symbols and Inscriptions, North Guilford. 1726-1991," presented by Beth Payne, the Museum Director at the Dudley Farm, discusses the symbolism, iconography, and inscriptions engraved on the gravestones of those family members from Dudleyville buried in the Old North Cemetery in North Guilford."
The Building of Merlin and Oystering in Long Island Sound: Past, Present, and Future" is told by Oysterman Jonathan waters and his daughter Emilie. Together they will talk about the building of the oyster boat Merlin , and the 200 year history of oystering in this area and the out look for the future in the age of climate change . Jonathan waters is an oysterman , artist, boat builder, preservationist, ecologist, marine historian ,and an avid advocate for the continuation of an endangered way of life. Emilie Waters Harris teaches AP Biology and is head advisor and fencing coach at Hopkins School.
"Rest in Peace. Dudley Family Gravestone Symbols and Inscriptions, North Guilford. 1726-1991" will be held in the Munger Barn at The Dudley Farm Museum located at 2351 Durham Road in North Guilford. "The Building of Merlin and Oystering in Long Island Sound: Past, Present, and Future" will be held at the Stony Creek Museum at 84 Thimble Island Road, Branford.
