Woman Stole $143K From Clinton Man, Prosecutors Say
A woman was sentenced to serve prison time for stealing from a Clinton man, according to prosecutors.
CLINTON, CT β A Rhode Island woman was sentenced Monday to 13 years in prison, suspended after 4 1/2 years served, for stealing over $143,000 from a Clinton man, according to a statement from Michael A. Gailor, Stateβs Attorney for the Middlesex Judicial District.
Pocahontas Cooley, 62, stole the money from a man she was living with in Clinton between December 2021 and January 2022, according to the statement. She then fled to Rhode Island.
Most of the stolen money the man had inherited after his father died, prosecutors said.

Cooley was found guilty of two counts of first-degree larceny and one count of second-degree larceny.
